Pakistan seeks 'universal access to energy' as UN development goal

Pakistan has asked United Nation Organization to make universal access to energy an international goal today at the UN headquarters in New York, Radio Pakistan reported.

Pakistan Ambassador to UN Masood Khan said in a meeting today that lack of energy in South Asia is the foremost challenge that the continent faces. On behalf of the country, he asked the organization to term Universal access to energy an international goal.

He added that around 800 million people of 1.6 billion people live without electricity in South Asia.
