In the wake of Afghan elections, neighboring country Pakistan has closed its borders as a sign of good gesture to show alignment with the peaceful afghan electoral process.
The Pakistan military said, as stated on VOA, that all crossing points to Afghanistan have been sealed and extra security has been placed for surveillance.
Pakistan army has assured that strict surveillance is in place to prohibit any unflavored movement across border.
Pakistan and Afghanistan share a 2500-kilometer long border known as the Durand line. The border is criticized by American and Afghan forces as a safe haven for militants.
The measures by Pakistan army are taken to clarify its position to Afghan counterpart.
Afghanistan national security agency previously pointed ISI (Inter service intelligence) Pakistan intelligence service for the attack on Serena hotel in Kabul.
Pakistan foreign minister spokesperson earlier said that the country will take adequate measures for safe turnout in Afghanistan electoral process. ‘We will take extra measures to ensure security on our side’ she added, as reported on globalpost.
As per Aljazeera, Afghanistan has added 0.4 million soldiers on its side to secure the electoral process.
