Another Social Activist Silenced (A tribute to Nauroz Baloch)

“He was brave, He fought with dignity and He will be given high place in Jannah, Inshallah” that is how we remember people who are killed for a cause. However, the killers of these people always remain at large. They are never apprehended, and if apprehended never hanged until death but are let go by negotiations.

Nauroz Baloch, real name Fahad Jan baloch, a student of Mass Communication in University of Creative technology, Malaysia, was a social activist from Balochistan who alone campaigned on social media against the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). He formed an anti Baloch liberation Army page named (Margh Bar BLA) where he used to expose the actions of Baloch Liberation Army. Unfortunately, he was silenced by Baloch Liberation Army on Friday. According to a statement posted on his Facebook page, “The person who initiated this aggressive anti BLA social media camping, Nouroz Baloch, Has been shot dead yesterday by BLA. He was trapped and then killed”.

However, the mainstream media in Pakistan is silent on this issue. The mainstream media including Ary, Geo, Dunya, Samma, Express and many more news channels that can catch the smallest bit of information like the lost watch of Meera or birthday of Katrina Kaif has either not received the information of Nauroz Baloch or thinks it is not worth telling.

Wikipedia states that Baloch Liberation Army is a group of 500 militants that has been targeting government officials, journalists and civilians on different occasions. Recently in 2013, they attacked the Quaid e Azam residency in Ziarat destroying the front of the residency and placing its own flag on top by removing Pakistan National Flag.

People on Defense Forum Pakistan say that Baloch Liberation Army is supported by Indian elements, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India. The Baloch Liberation Army is never categorized as a terrorist organization by US or EU but their actions have been labeled as terrorism.

To wrap it all up, it can be said that in a state like Pakistan no social activist or journalist or even a person who produces exposing statements against a terrorist organization on social media is safe. It is not known that family of Nauroz Baloch will find justice or they will also end up in trials like the on going trials of Shahzaib Murder Case, Missing person Case and others.
